TV3 Workers In Red Arm-Bands

Reports reaching Joy FM Friday say unionized workers of private television network, TV3, are wearing red arm bands over non-payment of severance packages to them. According to a source at the station, the action has been necessitated by the refusal of new owners of the station, Media General Ltd, to pay them any severance package. The source said the union workers are angry that, some have worked over 20 years and not a single improvement, under the management of Gama Media International (BVI), a subsidiary of Malaysian company, Media Prima Bhd, group which is packing out. The workers are said to be demanding some severance package because there is some uncertainty over their future with the company. When contacted Allan Davidson, Union Chairman of the workers of TV3, he said, We are in a consultative meeting so we dont want to talk to the media right now. We are just putting on our red bands but we dont want to talk to any media right now. Media General Limited recently acquired a 90% stake in the company for approximately US$2.8 million and is expected to assume full managerial duties any time soon.
