SCANDAL: Ex-Hearts Defender Dan Coleman Admits To Age-Cheating

Defender Daniel Coleman has astonishingly revealed his age was slashed down drastically by football officials in order to get him play for Ghanas Under-17 team. The incident is said to have happened during the selection of players for the 2001 Africa Under-17 Championship. The unscrupulous officials did that by producing a fresh passport for him so he can feature in the eliminators. The rugged centre-back, who turns 27 on 1 October, however failed to disclose the officials involved and the number of years his age was slashed. Ghana failed to qualify for the African Championship that year as the Black Starlets were edged out by Kenya, a side also accused of fielding over-aged players. Officials at the national team prepared my first ever passport, he disclosed to Kumasi-based Angel FM. I went to the U-17 camp and they produced the passport with 1984 as my year of birth. Clearly they had slashed my age so I be eligible to play for the U-17 team. The ages of some African players have been disputed in the past but there has been no technology to stop it.
