RESIDENTS OF Ejura Sekyeredumase in the Ahsanti region have declared that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration of President Mills is one of hardship and suffering.
�Ever since the NDC came back to power in 2009, life has become difficult for us because of the poverty and hardship that their administration has brought on us and this cannot be a government that cares for us,� were some of the comments made by the residents when the NPP 2012 flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo took his listening tour to the Ejura Sekyeredumase constituency on Monday.
In the constituency, Nana Addo toured communities such as ANYINASU, Sekyeredumase, Frante, Aframso, Kasei, Hiawoanwu and Kyenkyenkuraa where he interacted with residents to know the problems and issues confronting them.
They complained about the lack of jobs, inability to pay their children�s school fees, lack of educational and health facilities, bad roads and collapsing social interventions among others.
They expressed disappointment in the NDC explaining �this is a party whose candidate at the time, trumpeted �I care for you� all over the place giving the impression that his government was going to be sensitive to the plight of the people especially the poor but as President, he has only made our lives worse and the poor have gotten poorer. He has showed he doesn�t care for us and that �I care for you� was just rhetoric.�
They noted that all President Mills has done so far is to increase the cost of living by increasing water and electricity tariffs, increasing fuel prices and introducing �killer taxes.�
They assured Nana Akufo-Addo that they will work hard and vote massively for him in 2012 to ensure the return of the New patriotic Party.
Nana Addo was given a massive welcome when he entered the Ejura Market as traders and market women there abandoned their wares and goods to catch a glimpse him Residents of the community were not left out as they mobbed him throughout his tour of the market.
They complained about the slow rate of business, increased water and electricity tariffs, lack of jobs, bad roads, lack of schools and hospitals and the collapsed National Youth Employment Programme among other things.
The NPP flag bearer thanked them for the support shown him assuring that he had noted with all seriousness the concerns they expressed to him during his tour of their various communities.
�God willing, better days will come to Ghana again in 2013 under my leadership,� he said.
