Tottenham 4 Liverpool 0

KENNY DALGLISH was left fuming after nine-man Liverpool were crushed by Tottenham. Kop stars Charlie Adam and Martin Skrtel were sent off either side of half-time. And goals from Luka Modric, Jermain Defoe and an Emmanuel Adebayor double saw off the beleaguered Reds. Liverpool boss Dalglish has criticised refereeing decisions throughout the season so far. And he was unhappy again as Lee Probert took the whistle at White Hart Lane. Probert booked four Liverpool players in the first half including Adam who saw red for his second within 28 minutes. By the time of Adam's dismissal, Tottenham were already dominant and ahead through Modric's wonder strike. Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe fluffed early chances but the Croatian made no mistake with his effort. Defoe knocked the ball down before Modric hit a blistering first-time effort into the top corner of Pepe Reina's goal. Modric was involved again when Liverpool keeper Reina parried his low shot wide, which Adebayor picked up but could not find a telling cross. Liverpool thought they had equalised against the run of play whenh Luis Suarez tapped home after a defensive mix-up. But the linesman ruled the Uruguayan was offside when he picked up the ball from Andy Carroll. Liverpool's worries grew when Daniel Agger was forced off with a chest problem. He was replaced by debutant Sebastian Coates. And when Adam caught Parker in the leg with his stubs up, Probert had no option but to worsen the Reds' afternoon. The tide continued in Tottenham's favour with Skrtel, Coates and Suarez all booked. Bale tried his luck with two free-kicks while Younes Kaboul and Defoe also went close. Dalglish confronted Probert at half-time to vent his anger at the officials. Yet, he would have been more advised to have harsh words with his players, whose indiscipline cost them dear. With 10 men on the pitch, they at least had a chance of grinding out a draw. But when Skrtel recklessly went through the back of Bale's ankle, earning a second yellow, all hope was lost. Within three minutes of the Slovakian defender being dismissed, Defoe had doubled the lead. He was left one-on-one with Jose Enrique and after twisting and turning, fired low past the helpless Reina. Adebayor soon piled on the misery from close range after Defoe's shot was parried into his path. With the game clearly lost, Dalglish took off his star men Suarez and Stewart Downing and replaced them with Jay Spearing and Craig Bellamy. Tottenham toyed with their hapless opponents and half-time sub Rafael van der Vaart mishit a super cross from Benoit Assou-Ekotto. It was painful watching for Liverpool as they were passed off the park. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp made his finals subs as Giovani dos Santos and Sebastian Bassong were given rare outings. They replaced goal hero Defoe, who impressed alongside strike partner Adebayor, and captain Ledley King. Van der Vaart tried is luck with a cheeky chip on Reina in the dying minutes but this was a rare occasion when the Spaniard wasn't left to collect the ball from his net. He was doing soon after though as Adebayor sealed his brace on his home debut, lashing home from inside the box.
