Black Stars Host Brazil In Ghana

ALL IS now set for the Black Stars of Ghana to play host to five-time World Champions Brazil. The top international friendly would be played either at the Accra Sports Stadium or the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. GFA Boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi, who made the disclosure, said talks for the big game is still ongoing and that he is hopeful the game would surely come on. The Black Stars, with 10 men, recently lost 0-1 to Brazil in an international friendly in England. The GFA President said that the Black Stars impressive showing in the recent game influenced the organizers to arrange another contest for the two combatants. Though Lawyer Nyantakyi could not readily state the exact date of what he described as a Super Game, he said it would be played in 2012 after the Africa Nations tournament. He announced also that plans are far advanced for the Black Stars to test their might against old enemies Uruguay who denied Ghana its first appearance at the semi final stage of the FIFA World Cup in 2010. Lawyer Nyantakyi noted that the Uruguay game might be played in Ghana if the organization process goes on smoothly. Meanwhile Ghana have dropped one place in the latest Fifa rankings released on Wednesday. The Black Stars are now ranked 37th in the world and 3rd in Africa after losing 26 points in the month under review. After beating Swaziland 2-0 in the Africa Nations Cup qualifier in Accra, Ghana suffered a 1-0 defeat to Brazil three days later in an international friendly in London earlier this month. With 700 points, Ghana now trails Egypt (2nd in Africa) by 13 and are a further 84 points off the no.1 team in Africa, Cote dIvoire. The 2010 World Cup quarter finalist have failed to rise in the rankings since April when the team was ranked 15th and 1st in the World and Africa
