Ghana To Embark On 6 Month Camp For Olympics

President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Benson Tongo Baba has revealed that his outfit is rolling out plans for a long camping for Ghanaian athletes ahead of the 2012 Olympics. Specifically, he mentioned that the athletes will pitch camp for six months outside the country as part of preparations and plans to win more laurels in the quadrennial Games slated for London. Baba pointed out that it was crucial for the private sector to partner government to raise financial support to propel the Ghana contingent to prepare adequately for the Olympic Games saying, It is very important for the private sector to partner government financially so that the team can camp for about six months so we can comfortably be sure of laurels for Ghana. The President said the GOC was happy to partner the British High Commission to make all the necessary arrangements for the Ghana contingent for the month-long global sports gathering, the 2012 London Olympics. We are very happy to partner the British High Commission to deliver to Ghanaians the best ever preparation for the Games. We hope to create enough awareness and ginger Ghanaians for the Games. To the GOC boss, the ban slapped on Ghana by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had stifled the countrys sports activities to some extent but gave the assurance that we have put in place plans to ensure that we dont lose out because of that. The Olympic Games is scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 12 next year in London.
