�I�ve not laughed for a long while and I�m glad I came to watch this play�, an elated lady exclaimed after watching the stage performance, �Different Shades of Women�. Such was the enthusiasm of the many theatre lovers and residents of Kumasi who trooped to the Banquet Hall of Hotel Georgia to enjoy the play by Roverman Productions. It was not the first time Playwright and Director, James Ebo Whyte, was sending his cast and crew to the Garden City, but certainly it was one of the most patronized plays. Advanced tickets for the live theatre act were sold out and it was not surprising that the two shows would not suffice the audience � an unplanned third show had to be staged as late as 11pm to satisfy the teeming patrons. The venue was packed with partners of diverse relationships � from the married to the dating, the courting, just friends and of course new hits. It was indeed a family night out! Stage production was excellent with a performance that kept patrons glued to their seats and stuck on their feet long after the curtains went down. �Different Shades of Women� is a drama brewed in a Ghanaian pot of intrigues � the politics of religion, the power of women in decision making processes and display of societal hypocrisy � served by excellent characters with pure humor and exceptional morale. Luv FM�s Nana Benyin Anumel, who coordinated the event in Kumasi, observed an anxiety among residents to be part of the theatre revolution and to share in the fun of great performances. Uncle Ebo Whyte could not help but marvel at �the generosity of spirit of Kumasi� when he took the stage to appreciate the turnout and goodwill of some personalities towards the production house. Residents of Kumasi indeed cannot wait to see the next play staged. However, the challenge of accessing a full-capacity auditorium for such events continues to play out and it is high time perhaps investors cashed in on the opportunity.
