Produce Inspirational Music-Minister

Colonel Cyril Necku (Rtd.), the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, has appealed to musicians in the Volta Region to research and explore religious, social and Ewe cultural themes to make their works inspirational. He said that was the only way to make their music appealing and successful. Col. Necku said this at the launch of the first ever Ewe Gospel Music Awards in Ho on the theme Rewarding Volta Regions Finest Musicians. The project, an initiative of Kafli Events Consult, is aimed at promoting Ewe culture, Christian virtues and values and creating employment. Col. Necku appealed to musicians in the region to go the extra-mile to compose songs that would positively impact on society and thus capture markets in Ghana, Togo, Benin and Nigeria. There is a big market for Ewe songs but until you sit up, research and come out with songs that will work on society, forget it, he said. Rizo Lino, the Volta Regional President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), said though the region was blessed with talented musicians, lack of financial support was inhibiting their progress, calling for support for the sector. Emmanuel Bedzrah, Member of Parliament for Ho-West, commended Kafli Events Consult for the initiative and pledged to support the project. Victor Kwawukume, Communications Director of Kafli Events Consult, said the awards categories included Overall Best Ewe Gospel Song, Most Popular Ewe Gospel Song, Most Promising Ewe Gospel Artist, Best Ewe Gospel Group and Best Ewe Gospel Executive Producer. The award ceremony is scheduled for December 2, 2011 at the Ho Polytechnic Auditorium.
