Glo Ghana Limited is to provide a facility to enable people reserve their preferred numbers on the 023-3 number series of the Glo Mobile Network. The reservations would be subjected to availability and conducted on the first-come-first-served basis. The facility would require members of the public to text their preferred numbers to designated numbers. This was contained in statement issued to the Ghana news Agency by the Management of Glo Ghana Limited on Thursday. �In accordance with National Communications Authority (NCA) guidelines on number registration, no individual shall be permitted to reserve more than five Glo Mobile numbers�, the statement said. It said these numbers would only be activated upon successful registration after the Network has been launched. Glo Mobile Ghana Limited is a subsidiary of Globacom Limited, Africa's fastest growing Telecommunications Company. Globacom acquired its operating licence for business in Ghana in 2008 and during the past three years, has pursued a rigorous programme of developing a world class telecommunications service which emphasises reliability, efficiency and affordability for the majority of Ghanaians. The Glo network derives much of its strength from the massive backbone support it receives from Glo 1, the high capacity state-of-the-art submarine cable which berthed in Ghana in 2009 and was commissioned last April. The Glo 1 fibre optic cable is the first individually owned submarine cable in Africa and the only such facility connecting West Africa to the United Kingdom. The Glo 1 Cable will guarantee access to ultra-fast and reliable internet connectivity and will be the driving force for the business community, not only in Ghana, but also across West Africa. It will also provide the platform for robust applications such as video conferencing, telemedicine, distance learning and customized services like data centres and wireless virtual private network (VPN) Virtually all sectors of the Ghanaian economy will benefit immensely from the window of global opportunities which the Glo 1 and the Glo Mobile network has come to offer. The official launch of the Glo Mobile Ghana Network is scheduled for middle of November this month.
