NDC Builds 20 Million Dollar Head Office!

From a political party that was too broke to pay the rent for its hired headquarters, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is currently putting the final touches to a huge edifice, reputed to cost as much as $20 million dollars, at the pricey precinct of Adabraka in Accra! And it can be confidently stated that some very serious monies are coming into the coffers of the NDC barely three years into office, since the party has hired Chinese contractors to complete the project in record time. Before he became President, John Evans Atta Mills and the NDC had profound faith in Ghanaians, but apparently, with cash to burn, they think otherwise! The new office building, which occupies a whole block at Adabraka, which is a four storey-building is located at Adabraka, opposite the Trust bank and the Total Filling station, in the Klottey Korley Constituency. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) office in that Constituency is also adjacent to the said multi-billion dollar office building, and per further investigations conducted by this paper, it is being contracted to the Chinese State Construction, a foreign construction firm. According to sources, an amount of 20 million dollars has so far, ostensibly being the tax payers money, has allegedly been spent on it. Just in front of the said office building is an old three storey building part of which is currently being occupied by some residents living in the area whilst the other rooms are being used as offices, and our information indicates further that the old storey building, which stands in front of the NDC edifice, has been acquired and will soon be pulled down in order to get enough parking space for the multi-billion office. As at the time our scouts visited the premises early this week workers were busily painting the office with a white paint, with doors and windows yet to be fixed. Some of the staff who spoke to our scouts stated that work is expected to be completed before December following which the contractor will hand over the building to the party for use. According to our reliable sources, upon completion the ruling party national executive will move to occupy that ostentatious building whilst their previous office at the Kokomlemle, an Accra suburb, will be used as a research centre or occupied by the Greater Accra regional executive. The magnificent office is being put up by the John Evans Atta Mills-led administration at the time Ghanaians are facing hardship and cannot meet even two square meals a day. When contacted on phone yesterday, the Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Richard Quarshigah confirmed his Party was putting up a new office, but however failed to disclose the actual amount spent on it. As to why the party decided to give the project to a foreign construction firm, Mr. Quarshigah responded that, that was news to him, and added, that he was not aware as to which contractor was given that contract. Also to the question of what number of offices were contained in the magnificent building, the NDC Propaganda Secretary could not answer. According to him, he has personally not been to the premises ever since the project began.
