Ave Youth Grateful To Mills Government

The executives of the Coalition of Ave Progressive Youth (CAPY), have expressed their gratitude to the government for giving them a new district, the Ave District. The Coalitions chairman, Torgbui Tu Agbalekpor V, Fiaga of Ave Xevi Traditional Area, said the new district, which was part of the Akatsi District, was too large. "The decision to carve a new district out of it is wise and prudent," he said at a meeting of the Coalition. Torgbi Agbalekpor said the size of the district had made it difficult to meet the development needs of the people, hence widespread poverty and illiteracy in the area. The creation of the new district, he said, would serve as a turning point in the life of the people" and urged his people to work hard so that they could catch up with other neighbouring districts that had gone ahead. The spokesperson for the Coalition, Mr. Pius Attise, said the fight for the creation of the district started in 1993. Mr. Attise, the Assembly Member of Ave Havi Electoral Area, said due to difficulties encountered the youth founded the Ave Development Union (AVEDU) was to spearhead development in the area and to serve as the mouthpiece of the Chiefs and people of the area. He said the Union made progress in education, electrification, portable drinking water and also organised all Aves, home and abroad, for the celebration of the only agricultural festival, Ave Bliza. The chief of Kpeduhoe, Torgbi Baragbor Awudi IV, an executive member of the Coalition, said the members of CAPY would act as watchdogs and flush out any opportunist or imposter who would take advantage of the new district to lobby for political positions. The Chief of Atanve, Tobge Hodzi Dunyo V the Coalitions Vice Chairman, urged the youth to be vigilant and reject imposters and opportunists during the forthcoming electioneering campaign. We know the people who have worked hard and sacrificed their time, money and energy to bring us this far, he said.
