MP Advices A-Plus To Focus On Music...Not Politics

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, Ekow Payin Okyere says he is not in the least threatened by the intention of popular Ghanaian musician, A-Plus to contest the Gomoa East Parliamentary seat as an independent candidate. The controversial hip life lyricist who has been tagged as a sympathizer of the opposition NPP after declaring his support for Nana Akufo-Addo in 2008 says, his decision to seek parliamentary office is borne out of his passion to contribute to Ghanas parliament. Born Kwame Asare-Obeng, A-Plus said his reason to vie for the seat as an independent candidate is that he does not intend to meddle in the NDC and NPP politics, stating, I want to be independent-minded if I get the opportunity to go to parliament." But speaking to Citi News, Honorable Payin-Okyere says though he admires A-Plus as a musician, he does not think he can win elections. A-Plus is coming to start a profession, though he might not be a winner now he might learn something. He is no threat at all, I like his music and he can excel very well as a musician but in politics especially in Gomoa it is a different ball game. Mr. Okyere added that if he can do his tracks as a musician that will help him but for him to jump out of his way to come into politics I dont know what is his motivation.
