The National Labour Commission (NLC) said it is unfair for the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) to state that they were denied justice at the end of the compulsory arbitration between them and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC).
The GMA said it was evident throughout the list of awards given by the NLC that the concerns of the doctors were not considered before a ruling was given. The doctors insist the commission�s decision on the issues fell short of their expectations and realities on the ground.
But the chairman of the NLC, Joseph Aryeetey, told Citi News the commission has been fair in its resolution process and rejects any attempts to tag it as an unjust institution.
�We have been most fair in accordance with our conscience and the oaths we have,� Aryeetey noted. �What we think is due to the unions; they have had it, what in our opinion, is due to employers; they have had it. �
�In any case if they [GMA] are unhappy we have not also heard from the other side [FWSC] on how they see this,� he opined.
Mr. Aryeetey, however, added there was always a window of opportunity when an award is given thus the aggrieved doctors could negotiate further, if they felt they had been treated wrongly.
