Asamoah Gyan Strikes To Help Al Ain Move To Second
Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan opened the scoring from the spot as Al Ain beat Al Wasl 2-0 on Friday night to move to second place in the UAE Pro League.
The on-loan Sunderland player converted a penalty on 11 minutes which was earned by Ignacio Scocco, a summer import from Greece.
Gyans goal finished off the club coached by Maradona to make it his third goal in two matches.
Scocco then added one of his own with a smart snap volley, as Al Ain all but wrapped up this Pro League fixture within the first 32 minutes.
Last week, Gyan scored a double to aid his side earn a 2-2 at Baniyas.
Wasl, managed by legend Diego Maradona, was left fuming after the final whistle.
When I went to the referee at the end of the first half, I wanted to give my opinion about a certain incident that had happened, Maradona said.
I was stopped from doing that, and was shoved to the side by the police and treated like I was an outsider. It was not right.
Al Ain deserved to win. They were the better team, and that doesnt bother me.
What bothered me is the fact the officials want the limelight, as I have said before.
