MOVIE superstar Mel Gibson handed over HALF his vast �545million fortune for Christmas � to his ex-wife.The Mad Max legend, 55, agreed to pay former dental nurse Robyn a massive �272.5million in what is thought to be Hollywood's biggest-ever divorce deal.
And it is believed he will also have to split any outstanding fees due from films he made during their 31-year marriage.
Under Californian law mum-of-seven Robyn, 51, is entitled to half of all his assets.
The divorce settlement is Mel's SECOND big pay-out in just six months after splitting with Russian pianist Oksana Grigorieva, 41, mother of his two-year-old daughter, Lucia.
He handed over a �460,000 lump sum and agreed to pay into a trust fund set up for Lucia when she reaches 18.
He also pledged to continue paying for Grigorieva and Lucia's multi-million pound home. Recovering alcoholic Gibson and Robyn separated in 2006 after he was fined �700 and put on probation for allegedly launching an anti-Semitic rant at an American cop who stopped him for speeding.
He was also ordered to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings five times a week. Robyn filed for divorce in 2009 citing "irreconcilable differences" after Gibson cheated on her with Grigorieva.
The settlement does not include a private deal to care for their youngest son, Thomas, 12.
