Ghana Facing AFCON Jersey Uncertainty

Ghana's jerseys for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations are still held up at the ports three weeks to the start of the tournament. The Ghana FA requires US$ 90,000 in custom duties to clear the consignment. With the government fully in charge of the national teams, the Ghana FA is unable to raise the money thus the need for a government waiver. It is still uncertain whether the goods will be released following a formal appeal by the GFA to the relevant authorities. "We have written to the Sports Ministry and the Ministry of Finance and we are still waiting for a response," Ghana FA boss Nyantakyi told MTNFootball.com. "The next line of action now is to follow up at the ministry to see if we can get the whole issue sorted out." Puma unveiled the newly designed Black Stars jerseys for the Cup of Nations last month. Ghana open their Group D campaign against debutants Botswana at the Franceville Stadium in Gabon on 24 January.
