Sell Drogba To Get Torres Firing

CARLO ANCELOTTI believes Chelsea will have to sell Didier Drogba to get 50million flop Fernando Torres firing. Almost 12 months since former Blues boss Ancelotti smashed the transfer record to bring Torres to Stamford Bridge, the Spaniard has managed a paltry five goals and his partnership with Drogba has never really gelled. Various Chinese clubs are queueing up to give the 33-year-old Ivorian a last big payday. Ancelotti warned his successor Andre Villas-Boas that he has a big call to make on his two main strikers. The Italian said: "I won't judge the work of a colleague, I'll only say that training this Chelsea, in the middle of a great transition, is complicated. "Take Torres and his crisis: If you decide to invest heavily in him, you have to sell Drogba. "Didier is like Filippo Inzaghi at AC Milan. He tends to devour whoever is in competition with him. It's not maliciousness, players are made like that." Ancelotti, who has recently taken charge at French moneybags outfit Paris St Germain, says agents have offered him the chance to sign Torres, 27. He also revealed he was keen on taking another top London job after his ruthless sacking by Blues owner Roman Abramovich on the final day of last season. He said: "It was cold, very cold. I was hoping for something like 'Good luck'... and that was it. He knew I thought it was the wrong decision and he didn't want to discuss it. "I'd been thinking of taking a year sabbatical in the hope that next summer, between Tottenham and Arsenal, a bench in London would free up. But I was tired of not doing anything and it was a good proposal from PSG." Ancelotti admits his glittering career did not cut much ice with Chelsea's superstars. The ex-Milan coach said: "When I started at Chelsea, the two Champions League titles I'd won gave me prestige. But in the dressing room there were people who already had medals: John Terry, Frank Lampard, Drogba. "PSG's players don't have this past, so my titles weigh that little bit more."
