John Mensah Calls For Prayers

The Good Books admonishment that bodily exercise profits little Black Stars skipper John Mensahs appeal for spiritual intervention ahead of the forthcoming Nations Cup. The strong defender said the team had done everything possible physically and were up to the task ahead. Yet, Mensah believed seeking divine intervention ahead and during the championship would propel their fifth silverware dream, hence the clarion call for wholesale prayer from all. We are getting somewhere training wise, as the days roll by. The team is in good shape, our confidence level is great, he said in an interview. We are doing our part physically but I believe we will realize our title dream when God comes in. That is why I am calling on Ghanaians to rally behind us with prayers. We are asking for nothing more but fervent prayers from Ghanaians; we are battle ready, he added. Ghana has won the continental silverware on four occasions- in 1963, 1965, 1978 and 1982, and the Black Stars are looking forward to breaking the 30-year jinx when the 16 countries gather for the showpiece in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. The Stars begin their group D campaign with Botswana on Wednesday. The competition begins this Saturday with one of the hosts, Gabon, engaging Libya after the opening ceremony.
