African Football Expert: Ghana Will Suffer First Rround Exit

African football expert Mamadou Gaye has predicted that one of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations favourites Ghana will not make it beyond the group stages. Speaking on the Soccer Africa show on SuperSport, Gaye was convinced that the four-time African champions lack the men upfront and could suffer their first defeat in their opening game against Botswana. Let me tell you, Botswana will take Ghana out of this Nations Cup, the Ivorian said. These boys have nothing to lose and they are playing their first game against one of the so-called favourites of this competition. Ghana dont have strikers and so they will hope to win by penalties and that is why I say they will go out of the competition in the group stages, he added. The Black Stars have been paired in Group D with Botswana, Guinea and Mali. Their opening game is against the southern Africans on Tuesday at the Stade de Franceville. The 28th edition of the continental showpiece kicks off on Saturday with the opening ceremony taking place in Equatorial Guinea.
