www.peacefmonline.com: An Online Media With Class

Online Journalism has become very popular with Ghanaians and pundits say it would take over mainstream journalism within the next decade as technology advances. In Ghana, it is impossible to talk about online media without mentioning peacefmonline.com. Though not a pioneer in online media, the facility has taken over that industry and commands the largest group of followers in the country. The large followers peacefmonline.com attracts does not really come as a surprise, especially when it is the online version of Peace 104.3 FM and Okay 101.7 FM, the two most-listened-to radio stations in Accra and beyond. From the last quarter of last year till date, Peace FM and Okay FM have maintained their lead as the most-listened-to radio stations in a survey conducted by Synovate, an international market research organization with offices in 80 plus countries worldwide. The research into which radio stations in Ghana have the largest listening audience is conducted by Synovate frequently and when News-One started following the results last year, the two stations had maintained a clear lead. It is therefore understandable that peacefmonline.com would take such a commanding lead when it comes to contemporary online media in Ghana. When New-One visited the editorial office of peacefmonline.com, it was housed in a couple of rooms perching on one of the floors of the much-talked-about Ship House at Abeka Junction in Accra. The shy-looking and unassuming Nana Kwadwo Asante is the editor of peacefmonline.com. He doubles as the producer of the award-winning Kokrooko morning show on Peace FM, hosted by ace broadcaster Kwami Sefa Kayi. Vanessa Amponsah Adu Adonteng is the deputy online editor. The most controversial page on peacefmonline.com is the entertainment page of which Eugene Osafo-Nkansah is the editor. Osafo-Nkansah seems to have no fear or favour for any person in Ghana, be it a celebrity, a personality, a star or an upcoming star. He simply defies all odds to publish exactly what his audience wants to see and read. His publications have often generated heated controversies that had topped the front pages of newspapers. Eugene Osafo-Nkansah is also producer of Peace FMs Entertainment Review. Alex Ofei-Kwayisi is in charge of the Sports while Beatrice Adepa Frempong, Rebecca Addo Tetteh and Chris Joe Quaicoe team up to handle the political page. Priscilla Nkansah Odame works as the online secretary while Edward K. Boateng (Eddie Photo) is the online photographer. Michael Annan is head of IT, Atsu Agbo is the online technician with Fadda Dickson being the Administrator of the site.
