Kwesi Appiah: Qualification Is More Important Than Nice Football

The assistant coach of Ghana, Kwesi Appiah, has downplayed criticism making the rounds that the Black Stars poor showing against Guinea is a clear indication that they will be eliminated at the knockout stage. He said that despite what the local media have described as a shambolic display against the Syli National in their 1-1 draw final Group D game, progressing to the quarter-final is most important. Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Agyeman-Badu put Ghana in the lead but that was cancelled by Camara Razzagui of Guinea two minutes into injury time of the first half in Franceville. We didnt want to get into a situation of problems, Appiah said in a post-match interview. It was just important that we qualified for the next stage. At the end of the day, the most important thing is making sure you qualify. Ghana will now face north Africans Tunisia in the quarter-final on Sunday.
