New Petrol Prices To Be Announced Today

The much anticipated nationwide demonstration threatened by the Trades Union Congress for this week may not come off as government has given hints of a possible petrol price reduction. There are indications the petrol price reduction would be between 15 and 20 percent. This was part of agreements arrived at after an extensive meeting of Friday between government, represented by Vice President John Dramani Mahama and Education Minister Enoch Teye Mensah and the Trades Union Congress and other labour unions including the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU). The agreement according to citifmonline. com sources is currently at the doorstep of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) who is yet to peruse the agreement and respond appropriately. The agreement which would be announced on Monday may not directly affect transport fares since the GPRTU has hinted that at least for the next three months, transport fares would not change.
