Finland Lauds Ghana's Economic Growth And Political Advancement

Finland has lauded Ghana�s significant growth in the economic development, citing also peace and stable political atmosphere coupled with excellent human relations. The Under-Secretary of State for External Economic Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Mr Esko Hamilo, who made the commendation, said the achievement has influenced his country�s choice of Ghana as a business partner. He is leading a high a 30-member Government of Finland trade delegation to Ghana to exploit business opportunities for the mutual benefit of the two nations. The delegation met with Ghana�s Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms Hanna Tetteh, in Accra. Mr Hamilo said Finland was committed to venturing into the world market to expand her businesses, and added that the delegation was made up of people with diverse skills and experiences, demonstrating the country�s interest in investing in the Ghanaian economy. Ms Tetteh said Ghana wanted to position herself as an investment destination and this has reflected in the stable growth in its Gross Domestic Product through prudent economic management. She reiterated the commitment of Government to welcome genuine investors, who could use Ghana as an outpost to reach the rest of Africa. Ms Tetteh asked the delegation to tap the business ingenuity of their Ghanaian counterparts while in the country. She said: "We can team up as public private partners to come out with programmes and projects that are self-financing for the interest of our countries." Ms Tetteh appealed to Ghanaian business executives to increase exports to Finland and said: "We are promoting effective trading among the two countries but this should not be limited to only imports, but it should involve exports and exchange of human resources." A Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Joseph Annan, said the visit of the delegation was a testimony of the commitment of the Government of Finland to participate in Ghana�s economic development. He gave the assurance that Ghana would work with the delegation to promote trade among the two countries.
