NCA To Test Quality of Service of Telcos

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has commenced the Quality of Service (QoS) tests on the various telecom operators for this year. The test which focuses on call set up rates, call congestion rates, and call drop rate is based on consumers perspectives of the quality of service they receive from their service providers. Last years results saw Tigo topping the list as the mobile operator with the least network problems. Airtel was cited as the network with the worst challenges while MTN, Vodafone and Expresso fell between the two. The Director General of the NCA, Paa Rock Van Persie told Citi Business News telecom operators will be given the opportunity to rectify the anomalies on their networks but failure to do so will attract sanctions. What well do is to give the note files to the operators and then we give them a period to go cure the defects in the areas that we have carried out the monitoring tests, he explained. Last year, a total sum of GH 1. 2 million fine was slapped on five of the operators excluding Glo for poor quality of service.
