Coach Stevanovic Has Not Been Sacked Ghana FA

The Ghana Football Association has rubbished reports that Black Stars coach Goran Stevanovic has been sacked. Ghana media outfit Citifmonline reported on Thursday that the Serbian coach was sacked following Wednesdays executive committee meeting. But a statement issued by the GFA insists Stevanovic is still in charge of the Black Stars squad. Following reports on Thursday surrounding Goran Stevanovics future as Ghana coach, the GFA would like to make our position clear, the GFA said in a statement. At a meeting of the Executive Committee on Wednesday, it was agreed the decision on the future of the coach be defered as the membership of the Ex.Co continue to study the report of the coach and from the management team on the Black Stars participation at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. The Executive Committee is committed to the process and a statement will be announced in two weeks time when we complete the study of the reports. The GFA intends to do the necessary consultation and consider all options within the next two weeks before communicating their decision. The Stars trainer has grown unpopular in the wake of the teams fourth placing at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea after promising to return with the title. There have been several calls for his head but the GFA has stated a two-week deadline to announce the future of the coach.
