Akufo-Addos Fight Against Corruption Mere Rhetoric

Some political parties in Ghana have rubbished the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addos promise to fight corruption to the core if elected President in December. At a Breakfasting Meeting with the United Kingdom chapter of the Young Executives Forum of the NPP at the Grosvenor, House in London, Nana Addo assured the nation that his administration will not work with members of his own party whose aim is to enrich themselves. Reacting to the statement, the Peoples National Convention (PNC) policy analyst, Mohammed Atik described it as a mere political rhetoric, which must not be taken serious. He remarked: Nana has said he is going to fight against corruption and I just want to believe that it is one of the many rhetoric every politician will say, but as to whether he will be able to deliver on such a promise in the most unlikely event that he becomes the President of Ghana is one thing that we all have to wait and see. He added, I think the fight or commitment to fight against corruption is a generic desire every political party in Ghana is promising to do; the NDC said same even though we are seeing the reverse. Nii Armah Akomfrah, the Communications Director of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) asked what prevented Nana Addo from fighting corruption when he was the Attorney General. I think it is an election year and we can certainly expect political parties to be making wild promises, but Ghanaians have to decide based on what they have seen; and certainly the NPP in the last government record on corruption has not been good, he asserted. Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduoms spokesperson, Richmond Keelson shared the same thoughts with his colleagues from the PNC and the CPP. He bemoaned, I dont know where this sudden Nana Addo change about politics is coming from; anyway if he now sees the wisdom in the things that we are saying on the fight against corruption all and good.
