The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications have given indications that its members will continue with the SIM card registration even after the Friday September 30th deadline given by the National Communications Authority (NCA).

The NCA has still not made it clear whether or not unregistered SIM cards will be terminated after the deadline which ends tomorrow Friday September 30, after it extended the original deadline of June 31.

In a statement released by the NCA, it said it had undertaken constructive dialogue with various stakeholders with a view of making available to customers other benefits of SIM Card registration.

Meanwhile, checks with the telecom operators revealed that the NCA is yet to discuss with them the possibility of terminating unregistered SIM cards.

The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications which represents the operators said they would continue to register the SIM cards even after the deadline.

In an interview, President of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, Kwaku Sakyi Addo intimated that “we can continue registering after the 30th of September those that are not registered and new SIM cards that we are selling to subscribers would have to be registered first.”
