The Tema railway line will be inaugurated in September, Mr. Dan Markin, Board Chairman of Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA), told journalists on Tuesday.
He said the line, which extends from the Tema Harbor to Tema Community One, is near completion and the final work will end in August.
Mr. Markin, who was on a tour of the place, said the Government would ensure that the new facility would be of modern standard and would meet the needs of every Ghanaian, including the physically challenged.
The Acting Chief Executive of GRDA, Mr. Emmanuel Opoku, said level crossing safety equipment had been provided to stop trucks from crossing the rail line whenever the train is moving.
Mr. Opoku said this new station and rail line are part of the other six old stations in Accra and expressed the hope that the Government would later extend it to Akosombo and other parts of the country.
