The General Manager for Kantanka Automobile, Francis Kojo has called on Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of patronizing made In Ghana products.
He explained that, patronage of made in Ghana products will create employment and also boost the economy – according to him government must support the private sector to help revive the economy.
He made this known when UniBank Ghana bought two Kantanka cars, Kantanka Onantifuo and Omaman at GHC280, 000.
Speaking to the press after acquisition, the Head of Consumer and Asset Finance Unit Unibank Ghana, Christian Appiah appealed to Ghanaians to patronize and promote Made- in-Ghana products to enable the cedis to appreciate against other major currencies.
He was amazed with the quality of the made-in-Ghana car and promised that their bank is ready to give out loans to individuals ready to purchase the Kantanka cars.

In other words Kantanka is 'LEAP FROGGING' in terms of productive strategy and may find it difficult to succeed in such low income market ;to me ; the leap frogging theory is what is making Ghana a non -productive economy ;all we do is enocourage the purchase of the latest cars and goods and discourage the use of simple cars which will can perform same ; we sadly want to be at abreast with western economies ; the latest Range Rover 4 wheel v8 will cost around $200,000 whilst a small manageable car which will do the same job and use less petrol and will cost max $40,000 but the Ghanaian will waste the little resources to go and import a similar V8 costing between $100,000 to 180,000.00 because of opulence and arrogance ; it is just like Ken Agyepong who buys a Rolls Royce drives the car to the village and nobody knows what car Rolls Royce is ;for me ; we need to re-set the Ghanaian mindset;Ken then drives the car in Accra and everybody laughs because everybody knows the roads of Accra are full of big port holes and sooner or later he may have to spend a fortune to buy shock absobers for the R. Royce ;I know it is his own money but does it make sense ; so what does he do ; he only uses the car for funeral occaisions to show to the dead body at funerals ; SORRY KEN AGYEPONG JUST HAVING A JOKE at your expense. !!!!!!
You better start doing small cars like the Indian TATA with less luxury and affordable, else forget it.
I will suggest they start as how VW started after the second world war. Now they are doing luxury vehicles after building confidence in the people
Kantanka Automobile is doing a fantastic job but frankly, the prices of the cars are too expensive. Salaries in Ghana are too low to price cars above UDS20000. Unless the average employed person is able to afford your car with a personal savings and car loans I am sorry you can't compete on the market. You can't rely on govt and the few institutions to survive as a business. GH is too small an economy to operate with a high cost of products.
