Mr Isaac Osei has resigned from the Tema Oil Refinery as Managing Director.
The former Subin MP and flag bearer-aspirant of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) announced his resignation to the staff of TOR at an end-of-year gathering.
Mr Osei told that staff that: “I also want to say that I hope that Tema Oil Refinery will continue with this new tradition that we’ve started. We may not necessarily be on these grounds, we could be anywhere else, probably in the official residence of the MD, because you’ve won that place.
“A letter has been approved. Our legal team has assured me that that building will be in the hands of the refinery and the next MD will be the one, I hope, will be in that house.
“So, Mansa, we may not be here after 2020. So, let me just tell you; because I see that most of you and some of our most senior persons, let me tell you that this certainly will be my last carols service with you as your MD because you know in life, we move on and I’ll be moving on.
“So, that is what I want to leave with you but know that with unity, under the leader of the … and the Board, this company can be moved into another level and I expect that all of you, especially those of you from TOR, will support whoever comes in as the next MD and move the company to another level. So, I thank all of you”.

If this story is true then why did't he come out? They will replace him with someone who'll dance to their tune. He's not done any good to the country by resigning. I know him to be a powerful figure in the NPP because he had the balls to challenge Agyarko sometime ago so I'm surprised he could be forced to resign. He needs to speak out
I would like Ghanaians everywhere to know one thing: Mr Ike Osei is arguably the best MD TOR has had. He came to TOR to inherit a very dilapidated organization. When he joined, every facet of the company had serious issues: no turnaround maintenance for the processing plants for 9 good years (an activity that must be done at length every 2yrs); collapsed furnace that had reduced the refining capacity from 45000bpsd to a paltry 28000bpsdand rendered the company unprofitable; no spare parts of critical equipment purchased for yrs; essentially no liquidity; no crude oil supply; and above all, no third parties dealing with TOR due to lack of credibility! But what do we see after few years in office? He has re-positioned the company to almost its old glory days. He supervised the most comprehensive turnaround maintenance that TOR had seen in decades that has overhaul the critical units to a near new level; gave so much training opportunities to all manner of workers than any MD TOR has seen; worked tirelessly to restore the completely eroded TOR's corporate image that has guaranteed influx of third parties businesses with TOR; paid virtually all outstanding statutory debts and those due workers that had lingered for yrs; settled most of TOR's outstanding utility bills ; procured the much needed two critical equipment (crude furnace and 120t/hr boiler) that would eventually reshape TOR, among many others. He has secured a constant supply of crude oil which had hitherto been the bane of TOR and caused the company to operate erratically...... Why should anyone attempt to remove such an asset from TOR? Those behind this must bow their heads in shame. He is not resigning out of volition. He is being asked. But we know one thing: that he is a self actualized person and with or without TOR, he has already made an indelible mark that worth applauding. He will forever be missed by all well meaning TOR staff. Hon Ike Osei, you have done well. Your prints are evidently indelible at TOR, Ghana’s parliament, Ghana’s embassy in UK, Cocoa board………..the list goes on!
