Those challenging President Mahama are Challenging the Will of God

A Chief of Tamale Gulpegu Naa Safianu Abu has said it is God that chooses leaders and so those challenging President Mahama's Presidency at the Supreme Court are challenging the will of God. According to him if a person is not ordained to be a leader by God, it would never happen.

The Tamale Chief made these remarks when Executives of the National Gonjaland Youth Association accompanied by Chiefs and opinion Leaders of the Gonja Community in Tamale paid separate courtesy calls on the two Chiefs of Tamale, Gulpegu Naa Safianu Abu and Dakpema Naa Mohammed Alhassan.

The Dakpema Naa on the other hand said Northerners should be proud to have one of their own as President of Ghana adding that every Ghanaian including Northerners is qualified to occupy any position in the country.

He also thanked the executives for the visit reiterating that Dagombas and Gonjas are first and foremost Northerners and should therefore work towards developing the North. He also encouraged the executives to work towards promoting Education in the Northern Region citing the Dakpema Education Endowment Fund, which he and his people established to cater for the educational needs of brilliant but needy students in the metropolis as part of his contribution to education. He assured the executives Tamale would continue to have peace before and after the Supreme Court judgment on the election petition.

The President of the Gonjaland Youth Association Mr Alhassan Dramani thanked the Chiefs for the warm welcome. He said the people of Gonjaland are peace loving people and so the Association would work hard to sustain the peace of the North and the country. He commended the Chiefs for working hard to promote peace in Tamale.

Delegates of the various branches of the Gonjaland Youth Association across the country were in Tamale for a Central Committee meeting of the Association.
