As Ghana joins the rest of the world to celebrate World Mosquito Day, the National Malaria Control Programme is asking the general public to take personal hygiene seriously in the effort to fight malaria.
Its Programme Manager, Dr. Constance Bart-Plange, said the best way to fight malaria is to eliminate the malaria vectors.
Speaking to Radio Ghana, Dr. Bart-Plange said there are over four types of malaria parasite in Ghana.
She described mosquitoes as troublesome insects that cause diseases such as elephantiasis and yellow fever.
She said the day will be used to raise awareness of the harm mosquitoes cause to humans.
