President of the ECOWAS Commission, Kadr� D�sir� Ouedraogo says the war against terrorism in the West African sub-region can only be won through good governance and eradication of youth unemployment.
He acknowledged that the war against terrorism will �certainly be won through military actions; nonetheless, the long term solution to fighting terrorism is economic development and youth employment.�
Mr. Ouedraogo was addressing heads of state at the 44th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Heads of State and government on going in Ivory Coast.
The two-day summit will see the heads of state discussing a wide range of issues related to greater integration, transformation and prosperity.
Addressing the ECOWAS heads of states, Mr. Kadr� D�sir� Ouedraogo cited the activities of Boko Haram in Nigeria which has killed thousands of Nigerians over the years.
He said: �The atrocities of the Boko Haram sect in northern Nigeria that we strongly condemn is indeed a stack reminder of the need to embark on some preparation efforts at the regional level.�
