The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Command has arrested two armed robbers who were among a gang which killed a police constable at Weija, near Accra, in January this year.
The suspects, Kwaku Badu and Ismael Ahenkorah, were arrested at Goaso upon a tip-off.
Constable Charles Akatta, who was in his late 30s, sustained gunshot wounds during a shootout with the gang of robbers near the West Hills Mall at Weija.
According to the Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations officer, ASP Christopher Tawiah, the robbers were in a mini bus with registration number GT-8086-10 when they were intercepted.
They have already been charged with robbery, but would be subsequently charged with murder.
The then Greater Accra Regional Police Commandeer, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohunu, had announced that two of the robbers died during the shootout, six were arrested while four escaped with gunshot wounds.
