The Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) is claiming the controversy surrounding the contaminated fuel deal is being fuelled by insiders to cover-up financial malfeasance against its former MD Kingsley Kwame Awuah-Darko.
BOST in a statement said the current MD Alfred Obeng is investigating Awuah-Darko over a rot which left about $300 million debt at BOST, but the former’s detractors are using the contaminated fuel sale to distract public attention on the latter.
Five million litres of fuel product was declared off-spec after going through an in-house technical assessment and a laboratory test by the Tema Oil Refinery. It followed what BOST termed as “human error” which led to the contamination of the product which is said to have resulted in ?7 million loss of revenue to the state.
However, the Minority led by a former Energy Minister Emmanuel Armah Buah said the “financial loss estimated at GHS 14.25 million be retrieved by surcharging the offending officials at BOST in line with the recent Supreme Court decision.”
BOST in a statement dated June 27, 2017 said the Minority is resorting to propaganda to divert attention.
“The Minority’s assertion that the MD of BOST should be interdicted is baseless and unfounded. It is a political plan to divert the new MD’s attention from dealing with the rot of his predecessor, Mr. Kingsley Kwame Awuah-Darko, which has left BOST with a debt close to $300,000,000.”

Those of us who know Awuah-Darko know he is a very intelligent and principled young man. Workers of BOST and TOR believe in him and no amount of malicious propaganda against a young man who did everything to resurrect dead institutions like BOST and TOR will wash. He may have left a debt of whatever amount but who says debt is not part of growing companies? Is this government no already accumulating debt? Does it make the government bad? NPP should stop insulting our intelligence. Some of us believe in the President but criminals around him should stop trying to cover up their incompetence and corrupt practices by politicizing everything. My humble prayer to Nana Addo is to open his eyes and ears and watch his people. They will bring him down if care is not taken. Awuah Darko is a gem who has to be protected and not destroyed.
we're very wise now than before. the new MD should explain the deal to us and stop saying those who brought the issue up wants to divert the public attention. if the former MD was involved in financial malfeasance we ll deal with him as well. we need accountability from everybody who has stolen our money. he's not the only person who wants to investigate his predecessor. for now all the two MDs are ***barred word***; allegedly
Is it true that the contamination ocurred under the watch of the former CEO? Is it also true that last year there a contamination of some 12 million litres of fuel under the watch of the former CEO? How was that of last year sold. was the process sidestepped this time round by the new CEO? This are very important questions that begs for answers.
The self righteous NPP and its cohorts will never accept any fault or mistake but will always want to blame or accuse others of wrong deeds!!! A whole institution like BOST, comes out with a press release to accuse its former CEO of cover up of a current occurrence? NPP is always "right" always describing others a ***barred word***!!!
