The Ministry of Railway Development has opened the responses to the request for qualification that had been issued to various companies who had been shortlisted after expressing interest in the construction of the Eastern Line on a Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis.
The Ministry says it has so far received 15 responses from various countries including USA, France, Germany, China and Ghana. The documentations of these companies, according to the Minister of Railway Development, Joe Ghartey are expected to be evaluated the shortlisted ones would be invited to take part in the last stage of the procurement process and the presentation proposals.
On Monday, the Ministry jointly opened the responses to the advertisement for the Expression of Interest for the Tema to Ouagadougou railway project with Burkina Faso. 15 bids from various countries expressed interest.
The companies that bid include companies from USA, Russia, South Africa, Hungary, Morocco, China and Turkey.
“We working hard to ensure that construction of a new Eastern Railway Line commences this year,” the minister revealed.
