The Coalition of Unemployed Allied Health Professionals (COAHP) 2017 and 2018 batch, says they have withdrawn their services with the contact tracing team with immediate effect.
"Effective 13th April, 2020, all members who volunteered to do contact tracing, sample taking and testing nationwide have withdrawn their services in the COVID-19 teams," a statement signed by their General Secretary, Vincent Amponsah Gyamfi said.
They have therefore asked all their members involved in the exercise to stay at home and not render their services to the Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Health again until their demands are met.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' program, Vincent Amponsah Gyamfi explained that as part of their agreement to work with the Ministry to work with the COVID-19 team, they were promised to be employed by the Ministry, but they have failed to honor their part of the bargain.
"We have not been treated fairly," adding that they are worried about the treatment meted out to them.
"So we have asked all our members numbering over a thousand who volunteered to work with the COVID-19 team to withdraw their services until further notice," he said.

Wrong move. You should have continued volunteering until the government will have no option than to employ you. Now that you have withdrawn your services, at what point will you go to the government and ask to be employed? And what will your case be, if at the time of the most serious health crises the world has ever faced, the government managed it and the country survived without you?
This is needless at this time. This is a direct BLACKMAILING. The leadership of this group must be arrested. why must you choose a crisis period like this to vent your anger on the government? Posterity will judge all of you...
How can we be treated this way when we are those that finished our mandatory service to the nation before our brethren from nursing profession and we are those involved in the contact tracing which is actually our work but if our services are not important but clinicians what then should we be doing in the field risking our lives to make sure the chain of transmission is broken only to be thrown away like a piece of garbage after the pandemic is over .If u could grant clearance for over 10,000 nurses , why couldn't u add the Allied Health Professionals who are less than 1000 to the clearance.#WE ALSO NEED OUR FINANCIAL CLEARANCE NOW

2017/2018 batch of Allied health professionals deserves better. Not false promises. We were denied students allowance and now this. We want the Stakeholders to listen to our plea. #postalliedhealthprofessionalsnow!
Hmmmmm during the restoration of the nurses training allowance, these Allied Health Professionals were left out now recruitment toooo they've been left out why? Is it because they kept quiet when they didn't receive the nurse's training allowance?
So in times like these is when you see those who are really patriotic and those who are selfish. The question is what do you think will happen to them when the pandemic is over? You are blackmailing the government in these time of national emergency as if the virus will not affect you or friends you know. This is the most unintelligent action from these guys.
The allied health professionals 2017/2018 batch completed same year with the recruited nurses so the govt should fulfil their promise by posting us so we can continue with this contact tracing.
The ministry of health must act fast on this because these Allied Health professionals graduated with the 2017 nurses the government is recruiting now. You are using some for temporal contact tracing and given others permanent employment is unfair. They should post them all permanently
The ministry of health and ministry of finance should sit up and address this issue because there is danger ahead.
