NDC Member of Parliament(MP) for Juaboso constituency and a ranking member on the health committee of Parliament, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has accused the ruling NPP government led by President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo of doing business with the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to him, it has become necessary that Ghanaians are vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus and so they have taken advantage of the situation to rob the country of millions of dollars all in the name of procuring COVID-19 vaccines.
Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he explained that though donors are giving out some of the vaccines for free, government has squandered millions of Ghana cedis all in the name of procuring some of the vaccines.
"Kwame, the minority will come with facts and figures to prove that this government has turned this COVID-19 thing into business to enrich themselves. A typical example is what happened to the Health minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu."
"I can tell you that all that matters for this government in this Covid-19 fight is how much they are getting from it to enrich themselves, and not what will help the millions of Ghanaians who are killed by this deadly virus," he said.
The former deputy minister for lands and natural resources could not fathom how government spent millions of Ghana cedis on free food distribution alone.
He added that very soon parliament will have the opportunity to scrutinize government's record on how much was spent by the government on the Covid-19 fight.

U.S. Donates 1,229,620 Moderna COVID-19 Vaccines to Ghana
More than 1.2 million doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine donated by the United States arrived in Ghana.
U.S. Ambassador Stephanie Sullivan, Deputy Minister of Health, Honorable Mahama Asei Seini, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Honorable Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, and the UNICEF Country Representative to Ghana Ms. Anne-Claire Dufay received the vaccines at Accra’s Kotoka International Airport.
Delivered through COVAX, the donations are part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s global efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Ghana’s Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service will oversee vaccine distribution nationwide.
“These vaccines will save lives here in Ghana. Vaccines, along with other preventive protocols, will help control the pandemic and slow the development of new variants. We stand with the Government of Ghana in its fight to stop the spread of COVID-19,” said Ambassador Sullivan.
The United States has worked closely with Ghana since the start of the pandemic and has contributed over $30 million to support public health efforts and the COVID-19 response in Ghana. These funds are addressing the immediate and medium-term effects of COVID-19 on the health, agriculture, and education sectors, including the hard-hit private sector.
The 1,229,620 doses donated to Ghana by the United States through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) are part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to share the U.S. vaccine supply with the world. The United States has already donated and delivered more than 125 million doses to more than 80 countries and economies worldwide.
As we continue to fight the COVID-19 pandemic at home and work to end the pandemic worldwide, President Biden has promised that the United States will be an arsenal of vaccines for the world.

My take on this COVID issue is that anyone who makes money unduly out of it, would not live to spend it, since it is tantamount to spilling of blood to make money. So if the honorable member has such evidence, he should come out and boldly say so and not just make it a political propaganda and leave it hanging. Other than that he should apologize to the good people of Ghana.
I sometimes wonder whether this is what the whole of Juaboso could produce as an MP? No wonder the bright spot in his CV was a dinning hall prefect.
I remember double salary, Bus branding, SADA, GYEDA, Airbus bribery, Kanazoe ford.... name the rest. These NDC guys are annoying.
There is no where in your submission that point out the amount the government has squandered. Talk is cheap, you are ranking member on health at parliament get your documents and prove and drag the sector minister to the committee. Ghanaians are awake on some your political rhetorics and smear campaign to damage your opponent. Nothing have you said that has proved to be true, grow up from your student and dinning hall prefect days.,
