Former NDC Central Regional Chairman, Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has called on President Nana Akufo-Addo to construct an airport in the Region.
The President is currently touring the Central Region as part of his annual visits to the sixteen (16) Regions and has been assuring the residents of his government's plans for the Region.
He stated that his government will revive the Komenda Sugar Factory in Cape Coast which is aimed at cutting the making Ghana a manufacturer and exporter of sugar as well as creating more jobs.
Speaking on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' programme, Allotey Jacobs stressed that the Central Region needs an airport because it is the ''hub of tourism'' and will facilitate the movement of tourists to the Region.
" . . If you want to promote the tourism in Central Region, you need airstrip or an airport," he added.

Kasapreko Hene, you and I know very well that airport in Cape coast will not better the misfortunes of the central region. Is there another kakum park in the sky? is there another cape coast castle in the sky? Central region needs good roads rather than an airport. This is the mistake we keep making and our leaders keep deceiving us. They will build the airport for you (which i know will not happen anyway) and use your tax to pay for their own airfare. You and I will sit in trotro on that deadly road. Sit there and talk about history. Let me leave you with this. They built a football stadium in cape coast, ask yourself how many matches are played in that stadium in a whole year. You are now asking for airport, you will see 1 helicopter every six months.
Patrick, don’t talk like someone whose mom born him bad, do you really know the history of Ghana? And do you also know that the first Capital of our Motherland now Ghana was Cape Coast, and we are deprived of an airport, until our leaders turn to develop Cape Coast Ghana isn’t going up, because the heart of the Motherland is Cape Coast.
Every region needs and airport. it is right but not a priority now. Fix the roads, dualize the roads. Cape coast is just an hour drive from Accra if the roads are good. Remember there are other tourism sites on the road to cape coast which can only be accessed when you drive.
