A circuit court in Accra on Thursday remanded Mallam Fatahu, 31, a spiritualist, into Police custody for allegedly raising false alarm and creating fear among the public.
The accused who pleaded not guilty would re-appear on Friday, September 11.
Assistant Superintendent of Police A. A. Annor told the court presided over by Mrs Ivy Heward-Mills that on July 24 this year, the complainant saw an internet publication indicating that two men in their desire to become rich had turned into snakes.
He said the same story said two other persons had become deaf and dumb at a shrine at Aburi New Town in the Eastern Region.
ASP Annor said the next day, the accused told the media that the two snake men had been sent to his house at Ablekuma, a suburb of Accra to be turned into human beings.
The prosecution said the complainant later realised that the assertions by the accused were false and he reported the matter to the Police.
