The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has begun the process of screening aspiring Members of Parliament in 53 constituencies, including the proposed 45 new ones.
The Parliamentary Primaries in the constituencies are also expected to take place this weekend, with the exception of the Greater Accra Region where both vetting and primaries have been put on hold.
The deputy General Secretary of the NDC, George Lawson told Citi News, the party wants to prepare prior to the maturity of C.I 73 which has been re-laid before Parliament.
Vetting is currently underway in all nine regions except Greater Accra and the primaries will take place on Friday and Saturday, he said.
According to him, that of the Greater Accra has been postponed due to errors on the part of the Electoral Commission but since they have rectified those errors and will lay the paper in Parliament again, we definitely must anticipate what will come after 21 days.
So we must be in preparedness for its maturity. We dont have to wait till it matures, he added.
