Voters in the Kumbungu Constituency have been commended for rekindling the spirit of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) in Parliament.
The partys candidate of the 2012 presidential election, Dr Abu Sakara Foster, making the commendation, described the partys victory as a new dawn for the CPP ahead of the 2016 general election.
Apparently elated, Dr Sakara said the CPP could now boast a representative in Parliament, which had consolidated its representation on the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) Presidential Debate platform.
He acknowledged the support of the New Patriotic Party supporters at the poll, but was quick to add that the CPP candidate, Ahmed Moses Yahaya, was the obvious choice.
The people of Kumbungu have confidence in our candidate and he is going to serve their interest in Parliament; we also know that the circumstances surrounding his victory, the NPPs absence in the election gave us a leverage.
The MP elect, Ahmed Moses Yahaya, outlined his vision for the constituency, saying, There are a lot of problems in Kumbungu and what I am going to do immediately is to galvanise the people for constructive purposes to eradicate the poverty we have been grappling with.
He thanked the other contestants for conceding defeat, and pledged his commitment to work with them.
