The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey has stated that the Member of Parliament(MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong is not a "key financier" of the party.
οΏ½What makes him [Kennedy Agyapong] a key financier of the party,οΏ½οΏ½ Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey said whiles answering questions on the accusations that the leadership of the party had squandered money and donations meant for presidential campaign in the 2012 elections.
According to the NPP Chairman he is not aware of Kennedy Agyapong being a key financier of the party and has not received a penny or anything as the National Chairman of the party from him.
οΏ½οΏ½ Since 1992 until today as I sit here I have never received a penny from Honourable Kennedy Agyapong; I have never received a bicycle from him, I have never received anything from him to contest or to do anything when I was Chairman of Greater Accra, when I was the campaign manager for J. A Kufour twiceοΏ½οΏ½οΏ½
He further stated that he has been the National Chairman for the NPP for four years and whether directly or indirectly he is not aware of οΏ½a single pennyοΏ½ Mr. Agyapong has donated to the party at the National Headquarters.
οΏ½Apart from the deductions that are made at source from the MPs I am not aware of a single penny Kennedy Agyapong has donated to the party; whether officially or unofficially,οΏ½οΏ½ he added.
Mr. Obestebi-Lamptey was speaking on the Point Blank segment on Eyewitness News , he however, challenged Mr Agyapong to prove otherwise.
Kennedy Agyepong has accused the National Executive members of the NPP of stealing motorbikes he bought for campaign in the run up to the December 2012 polls. He also accused them of squandering monies meant for the presidential campaign and called Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey a thief.
