Reports reaching peacefmonline.com indicate that the Steering Committee of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled a meeting to change the venue of the upcoming congress.
According to sources close to the NPP Headquarters, a few leading members of the party are pushing for the Tamale Congress planned to be held on the 8th of April, 2014 to be moved to another location due to, what they describe as, insecurity in the Northern Region.
This, has however, ignited a heated debate amongst party faithfuls as to why the steering Committee would attempt to quash a decision by the highest decision making body in NPP, the Council of Elders.
Though a new venue has not been proposed yet, peacefmonline.com can confirm that another location is likely to be announced at a meeting to be held next Thursday, by the Steering Committee.
More details soon....
