A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has decried the way and manner some party stalwarts were taken to the cleaners by their own party members for openly expressing their views on happenings within the opposition party.
Central Regional First Vice-Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Joe Donkor, believes the love and unity which was instilled in the party some years back has now turn to hatred.
NPP of 2000, 2001 to 2008 is not the same NPP of today. The trend now is if you express your thoughts and it doesnt go down well with the party, they tag you as an enemy. The love, unity and happiness that existed in the party hitherto, is long gone. Everything has changed.
Since the Legon primaries to elect a presidential candidate, cracks have developed and deepened within the party, and since then, the issue has not been resolved till date, he lamented.
Speaking on NEAT FMs Me Man Nti political talk show, Mr. Joe Donkor was of the opinion that the NPP can regain power if they exhibit matured unity.
The NPP did not win the 2000 elections based on money. It was dedication, love, and unitybefore ex-president John Agyekum Kufour won the polls, the NPP was more than united as a political party. But in recent times, that togetherness in not there again, he added.
He pointed out that if calls for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to go unopposed as the partys flagbearer in 2016 will unite all activists, he will support the motion but stressed that an evenhanded contest will be much keener.
