Political Activist Dr Sekou Nkrumah says two-time presidential candidate of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo must change his mind about running for the presidency again.
Dr Nkrumah says the former Attorney General, who will be 72 years by 2016, must give way for younger aspirants to run for the 2016 race.
According to him, the NPP will win the 2016 elections, with or without Nana Akufo-Addo, and thus, the former presidential candidate must take solace in that possibility and relinquish his presidential desire due to his age.
οΏ½If I was in Nana AddoοΏ½s shoes, IοΏ½d have said look: οΏ½we will win the 2016 elections but it is not about Nana Addo; IοΏ½m stepping down because of age and I think IοΏ½ve lost two elections, let me back a new candidate to see the NDC out of powerοΏ½οΏ½, Dr Nkrumah told XYZ Breakfast Show host Moro Awudu.
Dr Nkrumah acknowledged that Nana Akufo-AddoοΏ½s age is problematic, not only for him personally, but also for the country, should he become president.
He therefore suggested that the qualified age for running for the presidency should be capped at 65. οΏ½Otherwise in the future, even a 100 year old can so he is also fit to run for President,οΏ½ he warned.
