The tension in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) continues to rise ahead of the party’s parliamentary primaries scheduled for June 13.
This follows a number of disqualifications that has characterized the party’s vetting processes.
Supporters of the candidates who have been disqualified are threatening mayhem if their candidates are not reinstated.
But speaking in an interview on PEACE FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, National Youth Organiser of the NPP said there is no confusion in the party as far as disqualifications are concerned and that it is only a section of the media that is ‘painting the wrong picture’.
According to him, the party has not yet concluded on which candidate has been disqualified and which one has not.
“The vetting committee has submitted their report and nobody can fault them for any decision they may have arrived at.
But we as executives will sit down and scrutinize their report. Unfortunately for us, the media is almost putting the cart before the horse…I will plead with the contestants to keep calm because they know the rules. If they are against the decision, you only gather your evidence and appeal,” he noted.
