NPP’s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described the late DCOP Angwubutoge Awuni’s death as a “fine” and “principled” police officer – adding that, his death is a major blow to Ghana.
The Eastern Regional Police Commander died Monday dawn after a short illness at the Police Hospital in Accra.
Commenting on his sudden death, Nana Addo tweeted that – “Saddened by the news of ACP Awuni's death. Condolences to his family; may he rest in peace. Ghana has lost a fine, principled Police Officer.”
Late Awuni was recently transferred to the Eastern Region as Commander by Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor.
He had been heading the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service.
He was known for his honest and frank talk and had several brushes with political authorities.
