NPP Member of Parliament for Dome/Kwabenya, Adwoa Safo has urged Christians and Muslims in the country to live in harmony, respecting one another's fundamental religious rights.
According to her, one of the world's greatest challenges is the increasing tensions and acrimony between Christian and Islamic beliefs and practices.
Reading from Article 18 of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights which emphasizes the protection of religious rights, Lawyer Adwoa Safo advised her fellow German MPs to show leadership in such regard.
She said the MPs have a significant role to play to avert the possibilities of any religious tensions in the nation.
"We need to show leadership . . . Many world conflicts today are fueled by religious intolerance. Thus; the need to promote the respect and implementation of the freedom of religion and belief.
"This right is a fundamental human right that is enshrined in the domestic laws of many commonwealth countries. Yet the biggest gap is hatred and violence," she noted.
Lawyer Adwoa Safo is currently with the Chancellor of Germany at the 2nd International Conference on "Promoting and Protecting Freedom of Religion and Belief" organized by the International Panel of Parliamentarians for Freedom of Religion or Belief and the Konrad Adenuear Stiftung.
The conference is intended to advocate for peaceful co-existence and tolerance of each citizen's religion in every country.

That's how we have been living for years so why come up with this as if we have issues with each other? You just want to be heard, that's all. We have been celebrating 'Sala & Christmas together. We go to same secondary schools and play games together. So where from this? If you don't have anything to say just ***barred word***. Since you went to Parliament the only time you could speak was when Kobla Dumor died & you were asking for a street to named after him. Get the intellectual capacity to contribute and discuss at the Parliament.
