The General Secretary of the General Agricultural Workers Union (GAWU), Edward Karaweh has described Nana Akufo-Addo’s ‘one dam one village’ policy as a sign of underdevelopment. In addition, he said the policy is likely to create chaos. Mr. Karaweh was speaking on 3FM’s Sunrise Morning Show which was dedicated to labour on Thursday.
The show transmitted live from the TUC Conference Hall in Accra brought together executives of some labour unions across the country to deliberate on their challenges.
Speaking about agricultural development, Mr. Karaweh insisted that the one dam one village policy is not the way to go. “It’s a sign of underdevelopment. I do not see that as the way to go with agriculture development in this country. If you promise every man, one motor bike, there will be chaos.
If you promise every man, one car, it will create chaos. There will be chaos in agriculture,” he explained.
“You see, what type of agriculture are you talking about? Are you saying everybody must be in agriculture? No, you are simply saying that if you are born in a particular village, because you have put the one dam there, you remain there and it will not be long, you will realize that that is not the aspirations of people”, he added.
“Of course people must have access to agriculture; the solution is not one village one dam. The solution is making water available”. He cited the irrigation dam in the Tolon/Kumbungu district in the northern region which is serving several communities as an example of how it must be done.

Promising Dam for the good people of Ghana is not bad but I expect that He go with an expert to elaborate more on that project so that it will not just be a political talks as we all know because water or sea has surrender Ghana and we all know when it rains especially raining season.
IS THE GENERAL SECRETARY EDUCATED AT ALL, IF YES THEN HE DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE A SECRETARY OF SORT BECAUSE HE IS ***barred word***, MAYBE HE AND NDC IS TAKING A VILLAGE TO BE LIKE A COTTAGE OR HAMLET
The General Secretary of the General Agricultural Workers Union (GAWU), Edward Karaweh IF YOU SUCH MEN LEADING WORKERS, WHAT DO YOU THINK THE WORKERS WILL EARN? OH MY GOD, SAVE GHANA. A GENERAL SECRETARY SPEAKING LIKE THIS!!!
Fuulish analogy. There will always be people in the communities to farm. There are animals needing water. The community or village is not made up of one person. There are 100s of people in communities. One village, one dam is not the same as one person, one car or bus. The irrigation at Kumbungu is not enough, it is not meeting the needs of the farmers, Tono the same, Vea the same, etc. What a union leader!
Only evil desperate and ***barred word*** old man can make such promise you
What did you say. As a head of union is what you have to tell us. In fact am really dissapointed in you
what a fuuulishhh thinking
